video game definition

What is a game?
To me, a video game is any interaction with a program on a screen, with a set number of rules and guidelines, which present challenges to lead you to complete a set goal(s). Many might argue many other perspectives, but at the base, this is the definition of a game. Think back to the most primitive games. Pong. This game was a ball moving back and forth and you had to keep it moving. Set rules, the ball's motion and the speed of the paddles, and guidelines, if you miss you lose if you make the other person miss you win. Simple. That shows how basic the definition of video game is. The new games are much more involved but they go along this definition, no matter how technical they get.
